Up to 700 staff at ITV's main production centres could be scouring job boards for work if their planned strike action does not cause the disruption they are expecting.
Members of the Amicus and Bectu unions at centres in London, Manchester and Leeds are preparing to stage a walk-out on April 7th and 8th after rejecting a 3.3 per cent pay offer from ITV bosses.
The television staff claim that their strike action will affect the filming of hugely successful ITV programmes such as Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway and Coronation Street.
However, ITV has expressed its doubts, saying it does not expect viewers to notice any difference, Personnel Today reports.
The disagreement echoes another strike dispute in the media industry - journalists at Richard Desmond's Express group also threatened to strike over pay last week, whilst Mr Desmond insisted the newspapers would continue to be produced as usual without them.
