Figures released today reveal the significant expansion of the worldwide job search industry.
The State of the Industry Report by the Association of Executive Search Consultants (AESC) shows that worldwide revenue in the job search industry grew by 19.73 per cent between 2003 and 2004, showing the first positive growth for the search profession since 2000.
The growth was consistent in each of the three global regions surveyed - North America, Europe and Asia/Pacific, in which 1,200 executive search consultants in 42 countries were considered.
The research also reveals an increase in search activity across all industries, with Life Sciences leading the way with a 27 per cent increase in searches performed in Q4 2004 compared with Q3.
The financial industry followed, displaying a 22 per cent increase.
"These excellent figures show that the executive search profession came strongly out of its three year decline during 2004 and is now benefiting from the worldwide economic upturn," Peter Felix, president of AESC, told onrec.com.
"Management is clearly thinking more strategically and is building executive bench strength to facilitate future growth."
