Computer-savvy jobseekers looking for jobs online are likely to find work according to new research.
The latest Quarterly Survey of Appointments Data and Trends by magazine Computer Weekly and research firm SSL has found that the number of advertised vacancies in IT rose by two-thirds from 2003 to 2004. According to the survey, there was also an increase in demand for contract staff, with the number of advertised vacancies at the end of 2004 double that at the end of 2003.
The contracts were often for three months rather than the usual six, however.
The market upturn has also resulted in better salaries for experienced, permanent personnel, according to recruitment companies.
