Job searches for City employment could be facilitated, as research published today by headhunter Morgan McKinley reveals that the number of outstanding job vacancies in the City in January this year has almost trebled year on year.
In January 2005 there were 9,198 City vacancies compared with 3,481 in January 2004.
Morgan McKinley emphasises that there is currently a high demand for staff.
"Demand in the City is strong across the board," states company representative Robert Thesiger.
"Banks are focusing on projects requiring completion and consequently there is strong demand for good candidates to fill project roles at all levels.
"There is also increased demand for risk, compliance and regulatory professionals as institutions bolster their processes and internal procedures.
"Demand is also high for staff within investment management where big UK/US fund managers are increasing higher end recruitment for the European markets."
The number of new candidates coming into the City has also been found to have almost doubled over the last year, up from 3360 in January 2004 to 6940 this year.
City salaries also rose by 2.37 per cent in January to an average of £46,113.
