Voluntary organisations are being encouraged to raise awareness of new employment equality measures.
Grants worth a total of £1.3 million are being made available by the government to fund schemes promoting the new sexual orientation and religion or belief legislation
The cash is intended to support projects that will increase levels of information and awareness, benefiting both individuals and employers.
Industry minister Jacqui Smith said: "These new regulations outlaw discrimination at work on the grounds of sexual orientation and religion for the first time and offers basic rights to people who experience discrimination.
"The £1.3 million I'm announcing today will help ensure the increased awareness of the new legislation and reflect our commitment to equality."
The funding is available for and up to March 31st 2005 and organisations are invited to submit proposals by July 21st 2004. |
