A Huddersfield firm has drawn praise from a government minister for its efforts at promoting the career of engineering.
Ivan Lewis, Parliamentary under-secretary at the Ministry for Education and Skills, said during a visit that the engineering firm Denford had helped illustrate what the advantages of the profession are.
The visit was arranged by Calder Valley MP Chris McCafferty, who took part in a tour together with Mr Lewis and Denford chief executive Andrew Denford.
Donald Sutcliffe, Denford marketing manager, told the Huddersfield Daily Examiner: "One of our major projects is promoting engineering as a career. Mr Lewis seemed very pleased with what we are doing."
Denford has run a series of initiatives to promote engineering in schools including the F1 Schools CAD/CAM (computer assisted design and manufacturing) Challenge.
Pupils aged between 11 and 18 are invited to design and build models of the F1 racing cars of the future. |
